NBA Best Point Guards This Year: Top 8 NBA Point Guards
While each team has stars that play different positions, none is more important than the point guard.
A team's point guard is similar to the quarterback in football in that they call plays, run ball movement, and find open players. Many are also the leaders of their teams, often called the "Floor General."
Below is a list of our top ten point guards in the NBA this season.

1. Luka Doncic
Doncic, who just apparently turned 23, is already recognized by many to be one of the league's strongest players.
The challenge becomes whether or not, as compared to another star, he can manage the Mavs to a championship.
When he guided Dallas to the Western Conference Finals last year, it was a significant positive step in the right direction. In the 2022 finals, he had incredible numbers, as he scored a minimum of 30 points in nine of the fifteen games, he appeared in and at least 40 points three times.
2. Stephen Curry
During the 2021-22 Nba game, Curry scored 30 or maybe more points 21 times while guiding the Warriors to their fourth NBA triumph.
He scored 50 points on November 8 against the Hawks and contributed seven rebounds and ten assists.
It's now being discussed whether he or Magic Johnson is the finest all-around point guard in Basketball history.
Another spectacular season could confirm him as the best player always to represent the position, even though his and Magic's play styles are so dissimilar.
3. Ja Morant
Morant reached his first All-Star selection last year and would go on to lead to the Grizzlies to 56 wins.
Ja has established himself as one of the most electric players in the NBA, thanks to his athleticism and scoring ability.
While he's third on our list for now, we expect him to rise as he enters his career's prime. His leadership has greatly boosted this young Memphis team, making him even more valuable.
Morant broke out last season by scoring 30 points 24 times last season.
While his talent is unquestioned, we will see if he can bring a title to the long-suffering Memphis fanbase.
4. Trae Young
Trae Young was introduced to NBA fans when he led the Atlanta Hawks to the Eastern Conference Finals two seasons ago. He had them on the verge of advancing to the NBA Finals, but an injury would prove too much to overcome.
While fans fell in love with his shooting ability, his personality has helped make him a superstar. His signature shoulder shimmy is something that can be seen on public basketball courts across the country.
.With the addition ofDejounte Murray this season, Young is still adjusting to having another top scorer in the offense. It's resulted in a bad year for the Hawks, but with a player like Young, it shouldn't take long to turn things around
5. Darius Garland
Garland earned his way onto this list by averaging 21 points and eight assists so far this season. He is a talented scorer who is the perfect leader for this young offense.
Few point guards have better floor vision than Garland, who just turned 23 last month. His ability to move the ball and find the open shot has earned him comparisons to Hall of Famer Steve Nash.
Garland has been one of Clevelands most reliable players, as he has at least five assists in his last 15 games and is a huge reason for the Cavs' resurgence this season.
With so many point guards in the NBA now focusing on shooting over passing, Garland's game is something of a rarity. The fact that he's already a top-ten point guard shows what may be to come.
6. Kyrie Irving
Kyrie Irving was dealt to the Mavericks a couple of weeks ago after demanding out of Brooklyn. While the star point guard brings plenty of personal issues, he is also one of the most feared guards in the NBA and should be an immediate boost for Dallas.
While known among fans for his offensive abilities, Kyrie is also an elite defender. He has five steals and four blocks in his first five games with Dallas and is a matchup nightmare for opponents.
Irving has had issues on and off the court, causing him to miss significant time with the Nets. With a fresh start in front of him in Dallas, he can re-establish himself as one of the top ten players in the NBA.
7. Damian Lillard
Damian Lillard is one of the most exciting players to watch in the NBA, despite playing in a small west-coast market.
Lillard is in the midst of his best scoring season (31.2 PPG) and has added plenty in the way of assists (7.3 APG).
As good as he has been, Lillard has still yet to come close to winning a championship. His dedication to the Blazers is admirable but has likely curbed his national profile.
Lillard's stats are impressive, but watching him in action is something every NBA fan should see at least once.

8. LaMelo Ball
LaMelo Ball came into the NBA with as much hype as any rookie in history. People doubted him, but he rewarded the Hornets by picking him by becoming an immediate star.
He has missed a lot of time this season with an injury but still leads the team in scoring (23.2 PPG) and assists (8.4 APG) while ranking second in rebounds (6.1 RPG) and steals (1.3 SPG).
While he has improved each season, the Hornets took a step back and look likely to miss out on the playoffs. With Ball healthy and back in the lineup, the Hornets could be a dangerous opponent for playoff contenders coming down the stretch.
